B. Carpenter Dies In Monroe Monday Edward L. Caldwell, 75, died early Tuesday at a Monroe hospital from a heart attack suffered Monday night. He was the father of Mrs. U. B. Carpenter of Winnfield. Last rites were conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hixson Brothers in Monroe, with Rev. C. Littleton officiating. Burial was in Twin Cities Memorial Gardens, West Monroe. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Geneva Caldwell, Monroe; two sons, Staff Sgt. Edward L. Caldwell, Smyrna, Tenn., and Leonard E. Caldwell, Chatham; five daughters, Mrs. U. B. Carpenter, Winnfield, Mrs. R. A. Mathieu, Mrs. C. R. Holloway, Mrs. Margie Horne, Mrs. Fay Smith, all of Monroe; one brother, Will Caldwell, Choudrant; a half-brother, Buddy Fuller, Monroe; one sister, Mrs. Alice Guin, Bastrop; 25 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Charles Holloway, E. J. Gould, Woody O'Neal, Breard Carpenter, Bob Mathieu, and Warren Taylor.
