CAMPBELL, OLDEST RESIDENT OF WINN PARISH, DIES ______________________ The death of Mrs. Ann Campbell, 98, ended the life of the oldest resident of Winn parish. She died suddenly Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the home of her son, J.W. Campbell, in Winnfield, where she has resided for the past seven years. Mrs. Campbell is the last of the Smith brothers and sister trio, whose birthdays were given much celebration each year because of the lengthy spans of their lives. Her brothers, Perce Smith, who died three years ago, was 93 years of age, and John Smith, who died last year, was 99 years of age. Although Aunt Ann was blind and deaf the last two years of her life, she was always cheerful. Four wars took place during her lifetime, and it was at the end of the Civil War, in 1864 that she married William Huey Campbell a native of Jackson parish and who preceded her in death many years ago. For eighty years she was a member of the Fellowship Baptist church of Winn parish. She was born in Mississippi. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial was beside her husband at the Mineral Springs cemetery, near Sikes. Rev. Calvin Robinson of Laurel Heights, Rev. Alwin Stokes and Judge Cas Moss, all of Winnfield, conducted the services under the direction of the Edmonds Funeral Home, Jonesboro. Mrs. Campbell is survived by three sons J.W. Campbell of Winnfield, J.H. Campbell of Epps, La., Adam campbell of Mangham, La; four daughters, Mrs. George Walker, Mrs Sarah Jane Thompson, both of Sikes, Mrs. Tom N. Burnett of Gaars Mill, and Mrs, Sam Pepper of Jonesboro; and sixty-six grandchildren ----------------------------------------------------
