Mrs. E. Campbell Buried In Local Cemetery Sunday

Mrs. Ella Peters Campbell of New Orleans, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. J.
J. Peters, pioneers of Winnfield and widow of William M. Campbell who died in
1936, succumbed Friday, May 31, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Josie Mathews,
in Winnfield.

A graduate of Peabody College, Nashville, Tenn., Mrs. Campbell taught in the
Winnfield school for a number of years before her marriage.  She and Mr.
Campbell made their home in New Orleans and after her husband's death, Mrs.
Campbell returned to teaching, which she continued until only a few weeks
before her death.

Funeral services were conducted at the Mathews home at 2:30 o'clock Sunday
afternoon by the Rev. H. H. McBride, Rev. H. J. Mott, Rev. Alwin Stokes, and
Judge Cas Moss, all of Winnfield.  Arrangements were under the direction of
Hixson Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Pallbearers were Judge R. W. Oglesby, Bryant Sholars, J. E. Carter, Sion
Jenkins, Mack L. Branch, and P. K. Abel.

Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery beside her husband and parents.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by two sons, Stacy Campbell of Lafayette, Ala., and
William M. Campbell of New Orleans; five sisters, Mrs. Josie Mathews and Mrs.
E. A. Weeks, Sr., of Winnfield, Mrs. A. B. Cox and Mrs. E. C. Simonton of
Shreveport, and Mrs. H. C. Collier of Baton Rouge; and two brothers, John J.
Peters of Winnfield and Dr. James I. Peters of Wichita Falls, Texas.
