For W. C. Canerday Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 23, 1952 at 2:30 p.m. for William C. Canerday, 59, of Calvin, who died Tuesday afternoon of a heart attack. Last rites were conducted by Judge Cas Moss of Winnfield in Bethlehem Church near Calvin, with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield. Mr. Canerday was operator of the Calvin Community canning center at the time of his death. He was a farmer before going to work at the canning center in 1942 when it opened. Mr. Canerday was born and lived his entire life in Winn Parish. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Lillie Bagwell; four sons, John W., New Orleans; Sam, Winnfield; Gerald, Monroe; and Bobby, sixth grade student at Calvin school; three brothers, Marshall, Charlie, and P. C. all of Calvin; two sisters, Mrs. Clinton Bates and Mrs. Luther Burnam, both of Bethlehem; three grandchildren, Bennie Ray Canerday of Winnfield and Joey and Jo Ann Canerday of New Orleans. Pallbearers were Merle Bates, Willie Burnam, Hesley D. Canerday, J. D. Canerday, Buddy Bates, Jewell Canerday, all nephews of the deceased.
