C. Canerday Held July 29 Funeral services for Charlie C. Canderday, 67, lifelong resident of Calvin, who died in a Winnfield hospital Sunday, were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church. The Rev. Eugene Langford, pastor of Laurel Heights Baptist Church, officiated. Assisting were Rev. Carter Hall and Rev. E. J. Yocum. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were J. D. Canerday, J. D. Rudd, Buddy Canerday, Willie Burnum, Rev. Merle Bates, and Webb Hodge. A retired merchant, Mr. Canerday was born March 10, 1890 in the Calvin community. He was a member of the Calvin Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Clarcy Rudd Canerday; one son, Jewell Canerday, both of Calvin; one daughter, Mrs. Jack Shelton, Winnfield; two brothers, Presley and Marshall Canerday, both of Calvin; two sisters, Mrs. Luther Burnum and Mrs. Clinton Bates, both of Route Three, Winnfield. He also leaves four grandchildren.
