All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: July 13, 1967 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Brother of Judge Cantwell Dies July 10 In Jena Lemmie Lamar Cantwell, 82, died Monday, July 10, 1967 in a Jena nursing home after a brief illness. He was a retired mechanic, a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Baptist Church. Mr. Cantwell was born in Homewood, Miss., and moved to Louisiana with his parents in 1903. He lived in Catahoula Parish until 1920 and then to LaSalle Parish, Jena, where he spent the remainder of his life. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Hemks officiating. Burial was in the Hair Cemetery. Survivors are six brothers, Dewey Cantwell of Port Arthur, Texas, Howell Cantwell of Shreveport, Alvin Cantwell of Tylertown, Miss., Judge R. W. Cantwell of Winnfield, Eldridge Cantwell of Sontag, Miss., and Percy Cantwell of Olla; three sisters, Mrs. Lavere Griffin of Port Arthur, Texas, Mrs. Agnes Tarver of Columbia, and Mrs. Velma Eubanks of Jena.
