Cantwell, Attorney, Dies; Rites Held Fri. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday for Roy D. Cantwell, Winnfield attorney and former city judge, who died Wednesday, November 18, 1970 at his home here. Cantwell, a 1915 graduate of Louisiana Tech, taught school until 1917. He served as Winnfield tax collector from 1928 to 1946 and as city attorney from 1943 to 1946. Cantwell, 81, was elected city judge in 1960 and served until his retirement last year. He had still maintained a law practice in Winnfield. He was a World War I veteran and an active member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Leon Cantwell of Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Coombs of Shreveport, Mrs. Marion Bickham of Dickinson, Texas; four brothers, W. P. Cantwell of Olla, the Rev. E. P. Cantwell of Sontag, Miss., E. H. Cantwell of Shreveport, and Dewey Cantwell of Port Arthur, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Tarver of Columbia, and Mrs. T. T. Griffin of Beaumont, Tex. The services were held in the First Baptist Church with Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating, assisted by Rev. T. W. Cox. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Tracy Lee Harrel, Sr., Tommy Harrel, Sr., Hiram Wright, Judge Harwell Allen, John W. Teddlie, Rush Allums, Horace Alexander, Rudolph Foster. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Vernon Martin, members of the Winn Parish Bar Association, Kingdom Builders adult three Sunday School Class.
