W. Capps Dies; Last Rites Held At Zion February 9 James Walter Capps, 82, died in a Winnfield hospital Monday, February 3, 1960, following a long illness. He had spent all his life in Winn and Grant Parishes, having engaged in farming, timber, and cattle raising. He had also been active in political and community affairs. Last rites were conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Oscar Bradford of Georgetown officiating. Burial was in Zion Cemetery near Georgetown under direction of Hixson Brothers. Active pallbearers were Harwell Allen, Robert Lee Dunn, Ashton Collier, Frank Amberg, Willard Rambo, and Earl Nugent. Surviving are seven children, Arthur Capps, Georgetown, Mrs. James Peebles, Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Fannie Skains, Winnfield, S. O. Capps, Tullos, Aaron Capps and J. W. Capps, Jr., Georgetown, and Mrs. C. M. Carnahan, Georgetown. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. L. A. Brister, Winnfield, 19 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren.
