Carpenter Succumbs; Buried At Bethlehem Last rites for Mrs. Alon Carpenter, 48, of Calvin, who died in a local hospital October 12, after a lengthy illness with a brain tumor, were held Sunday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. at the Calvin Baptist Church, with the pastor, Rev. Carter Hall, and Rev. Jewel Canerday officiating. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. The former Miss Minnie Powell, she leaves her husband, Alon Carpenter, and three sons, Tracy, Bobby, and Michael, all of Calvin; two daughters, Mrs. Mignon Brown, Shreveport, and Mrs. Shirley Brewton, Calvin; three grandchildren. She also leaves her mother, Mrs. Olla Powell, Calvin; three brothers, J. F. Powell, Shreveport, Jimmie Powell, Evadale, Texas, and Woodrow Powell, Calvin; three sisters, Mrs. Rosella Price, Pollock, Mrs. Edith Lincecum, Georgetown, and Mrs. Marie Lovell, Shreveport.
