Mrs. J. L. Carter, Sr., Buried At Sardis Tuesday, Oct. 23

Last rites for Mrs. J. L. Carter, Sr., 77, who died Monday in a Winnfield
hospital, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Atlanta Baptist Church with the
Rev. Don Brown and Rev. D. S. Durand officiating.  Burial was in the Sardis
Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Paul Barton, Wilmer Barton, Samuel Barton, F. O. Everitt, Joe
Everitt, and Bennie Williams.

Survivors include one son, J. L. Carter, and one brother, Matthew Simmons,
both of Atlanta; one sister, Mrs. Zudie Everitt of Ponchatoula; four
grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
