Carroway Veteran of Foreign Wars Succumbs in Alexandria Hospital Lloyd Elmer Carroway, 51 years of age died at the Veterans Hospital, Alexandria, Friday night, 10:40, following an illness of several months. He had been a patient in the hospital for the past four months. Funeral services were held at the Winnfield Presbyterian Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the pastor, Rev. Alwin Stokes, assisted by the Rev. G. A. Morgan, Methodist pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Andrew Carroway, William Carroway, C. M. Carroway, P. Hugh Mercer, J. F. Walker, Wiley Hammons, and James I. Smith. Mr. Carroway was born in Shongaloo, La., August 2, 1887, the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Carroway. He moved to Winnfield thirty-four years ago where he has been connected in the cattle and market business. During the World War he served overseas with Company B, 114 Supply Train. He was a member of the Alexandria Post V. F. W. Besides his parents who reside here he is survived by his wife, one brother, Drew Carroway, four sisters, Mrs. Burton Williams, Mrs. S. B. Harper, and Mrs. Paul Henderson, all of Winnfield, and Mrs. Ben Pate of Little Rock, Ark. Out of town relatives attending the last rites were Mrs. Ben Pate, Mr. and Mrs. William Carroway, Little Rock, Ark.; Mrs. William Duncan and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Allen, Ft. Smith, Ark.; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Carroway, Fordyce; Mrs. Reynolds, Mrs. Foster, El Dorado, Ark.; Mrs. O. Baker and sons, Rochelle; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Plunkett, Atlanta.
