A. Carpenter Dies; Rites At Bethlehem

Austin Carpenter, 69, of Winnfield, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, August 28,
1976 in a Winnfield hospital after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethlehem Baptist Church near
Calvin with the Rev. Wilmer Jordan, Rev. Clyde Parker, and Rev. Bill Fuller
officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bea Carpenter of Winnfield; five sons, Mackey
Carpenter of Wichita Falls, Texas, Wayne Carpenter of Jonesboro, Glen Griffin
of Minden, Don Griffin of Springhill, and Charles Griffin of Winnfield; three
brothers, Virgil Carpenter of Winnfield, Fred Carpenter of Goldonna, and
Sherman Carpenter of Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. Maggie Barridge of
Winnfield; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
