Alexandria Carpenter, were conducted at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, Thursday afternoon, June 19, at 4 p.m., with Rev. Shows officiating. Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery, under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Carpenter was born in Winn Parish Oct. 15, 1861. She united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church early in life. Later she was married to Alexandria Carpenter, and she spent her entire life near Calvin, La. She is survived by six children: Edward Carpenter of Calvin and Joseph Carpenter, Hershel Carpenter, Mrs. Minnie O'Bryan, Mrs. Anna Collins of Winnfield, Route 4 (only five children listed); 30 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. H. J. McGinty of Colfax and Mrs. Ella Machen of Lancaster, Texas. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: Huey O'Bryan, Gilbert Carpenter, Frank Carpenter, W. H. Collins, Floyd Johnson, and Clifford Carpenter. She leaves several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
