R. C. Carpenter Dies; Rites At Welcome Home

R. C. Carpenter, 77, of Joyce, died at 5 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 1969, at
his home after a long illness.  He was a retired woodsman.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Welcome Home Baptist Church
near Winnfield with Rev. Harrison Cockerham, Rev. E. B. Barton, and Rev.
Carroll Grice officiating.  Burial was in Zion Cemetery near Tannehill under
direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Survivors are his widow; three sons, Alton Carpenter of Dodson, Lester
Carpenter of West Monroe, James Carpenter of Dodson; two daughters, Mrs. Irene
Spangler of Winnfield and Mrs. Ruth Lafollette of Dodson; seven step-
children; 11 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
