Carpenter Held Roy W. Carpenter, 71, died Wednesday, October 15, 1969 at his home on Route 3, Winnfield, after a short illness. A retired barber, Mr. Carpenter was a brother of the late U. B. Carpenter and was employed in the U. B. Carpenter store for many years, after retirement. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Southern Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Richard Walton officiating. Interment was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Survivors include nieces and nephews who are Breard Carpenter of this city, Mrs. Warren Taylor of Ruston, Mrs. Ed Michaud of Nashville, Tenn., Mrs. G. E. Powell of Chatham, Calvin Carpenter of Florida, Harry Carpenter of Monroe, L. C. Carpenter of Hawaii, Mrs. B. E. Parker of Corpus Christi, Texas, Miss Juanita Carpenter of Shreveport and a number of great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Clyde Hicks, Cloy Frazier, Reece Stuckey, Lamar Berry, Alfred May, and Andrew Jenkins.
