Carraway Died Wednesday After Week Illness Winnfield Resident 40 Years; Was Real Estate Agent William Oates Carraway, 89 years old, a Winnfield resident for 40 years during which time he operated one of the first mercantile businesses here and later was a real estate agent, died at his home in Winnfield Wednesday. He had been ill for about a week. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in the home on Center Street, Winnfield, and burial will be in Winnfield Cemetery. Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian pastor, will officiate. Mr. Carraway was a member of the Woodmen of the World and was affiliated with the Methodist Church. Born July 5, 1856 in Helena, Arkansas, he was reared and educated there. He married Maggie Elkins at Minden, Louisiana, December 14, 1881. Deceased is survived by his wife, one son, F. Drew Carraway of Winnfield; three daughters, Mrs. Martha Dean Harper, Winnfield; Mrs. Burton H. Williams, Winnfield, and Mrs. Paul E. Henderson, Houston, Texas; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. His parents, Sarah Watson Carraway and Marshall Carraway of Helena, Arkansas, are deceased.
