Owner of Southern Funeral Home Dies

B. F. Carter, 42 years, one month, and 12 days of age, succumbed to an illness
of pneumonia at 9:30 Wednesday morning in the Lincoln Hospital, Ruston.  He
was manager and owner of the Southern Funeral Home in Jonesboro and the branch
funeral home in Winnfield.

Funeral services were held at the Jonesboro Baptist Church at 3:30 o'clock
Thursday afternoon with the Rev. J. W. Buckner, of Jonesboro, officiating.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Vernia Cook Carter; four sons, Damon Harris
Carter, Ph. M. S. 2C, U. S. Navy, serving overseas; Bonnie Carter, H. A. S.
2C, Navy, San Diego, California, Willie D. Carter, and Charles Carter of
Jonesboro; a daughter, Edna Marlene Carter of Jonesboro; three brothers, E.
C. Carter, Theodore Carter, and W. H. Carter, of Houston, Texas; a sister,
Mrs. J. P. Briggs, Carthage, Texas.
