A native of Calvin, Mr. Carter was a member of the Baptist Church, retired machine operator, a veteran of World War I, and a Mason. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Calvin Baptist Church with Rev. Elmer Pinder and Rev. J. R. Hearron officiating. Interment will follow in Sanders Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mae Carter of Calvin; one son, Williams Wayne Carter of Mesquite, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. H. L. Graham of Natchitoches. Three brothers, Robert and E. K. Carter of Calvin, Jim Carter of Kinder. Two sisters, Mrs. Ella Quarles, Calvin, Mrs. Willie Rhymes, Winnfield; a one-half sister, Mrs. Lou Maxey of Calvin and four grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Leon Carpenter, Cecil Martin, John E. Carter, R. C. Carter, James B. Carter, and Bobby Rhymes.
