S. Carter Of Calvin Dies Thursday, July 14 Mrs. Della Carter, wife of the late W. S. Carter of Calvin, died at a Winnfield hospital Thursday, July 14, after a short illness. Funeral services were conducted July 16 at 11 a.m. at Sanders Chapel with Rev. L. L. Booth, Rev. H. L. Holcomb, and Rev. Carter Hall officiating. Burial was in Sanders Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were J. C. Jackson, Virgil Williams, R. C. Mixon, Leon Lowe, C. C. Carter, and Ira Key. The deceased, 70 years old, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Weston Mixon, pioneer residents of Winn Parish. She was born, reared, and died in the same community. She was a member of the Sanders Chapel Church. Surviving are five sons, A. L., Wesley, and Jepp Dayton Carter, of Winnfield; W. S. of Epps, and Edmond of Calvin; five daughters, Mrs. C. R. Carpenter of Calvin, Mrs. H. O. Dickerson of Winnfield, Mrs. W. A. Fowler of West Monroe, Mrs. J. W. Bonnette of Winnsboro, and Mrs. E. C. Fletcher of Natchez, Miss.; 22 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. T. M. Carson and Mrs. F. O. Lattier, Winnfield, and Mrs. C. D. Golden, Jonesboro; two brothers, Jepp Mixon, Goldonna, and Lee Mixon, Winnfield.
