B. Carter Held Near Bogalusa Final rites for Rev. R. B. Carter, 39, native of Calvin, who died in a New Orleans hospital Monday, were held Thursday at the Bethel Church near Bogalusa, with the Rev. James Carpenter and the Rev. J. R. Allen officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Church Cemetery. Mr. Carter was a retired captain from the U. S. Army and was a resident of Buc Branch, Miss. He had served 14 years with the armed forces, with a number of years in Europe. After leaving the service he entered the ministry, but because he was a victim of leukemia, had been inactive. He had bee in ill health for five years. Mr. Carter was the son of the late W. H. Carter, and Mrs. Carter of Winnfield. He was a graduate of Winnfield High School and attended NSC. His wife was the former Miss Freddie Brumfield of Franklinton, La. Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, George Henry and Marsha; his mother, Mrs. Carter of Winnfield; and one sister, Mrs. Albert Elias of Tullos.
