Mr. and Mrs. Charles Silas and Mr. and Mrs. James Coffey went to Vicksburg Friday to see Mrs. Cave. Mr. and Mrs. Coffey returned to Winnfield and Mr. and Mrs. Silas went on to Birmingham to attend the funeral of the dead. Mrs. Silas is a sister of Mrs. Cave. Vicksburg, Miss., - A man, a woman, and two children were killed early this morning when an automobile turned over on the highway leading to the ferry landing at Delta, La. The dead: Thomas Cave, 23, Winnfield, La.; his two children, Donald, 3, and Margaret, 2, and Cave's sister in law, Miss Ida Hogan, 23, of Birmingham. Mrs. Nora Cave, wife of the dead man, was painfully injured. The party was enroute from Winnfield to Birmingham to attend a funeral. They left Winnfield about 8 o'clock Thursday night and the accident occurred about 3 o'clock Friday morning, but it was nearly 7 o'clock before passers-by found the wrecked car on the highway and aid was given the injured woman. Mrs. Cave said she was asleep when the accident occurred; her husband was driving the car. Just what happened is not plain. The car apparently left the road on a turn, hit an elevated cross road and turned over, and was righted when the machine struck a large mass of concrete on the side of the highway. Mrs. Cave was thrown from the car and was unconscious for some minutes, she said. The others were killed. Miss Hogan had been in Winnfield on a visit to her sister for a couple of months. She had planned to return soon to her home near Birmingham, but news of the death of a grandfather, caused her to join Mr. and Mrs. Cave to make the trip last Thursday night. Cave had been employed in the salt mines in Winnfield and had worked in the coal mines at Birmingham before going to Winnfield.
