Chandler, age 96 years, 10 months, and one day, died at 8:35 p.m. June 5, 1970 in Winnfield General Hospital following a 10 months illness. He was a retired farmer and a native of Winn Parish, having lived in Cypress Creek community and near Calvin, except for two years he spent near Nacogdoches, Texas, until the past six years he resided in Winnfield with Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Camp. Mr. Chandler was a member of the Calvin Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 1970 in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield. Rev. Edward Smith of Ball, La., a former pastor of Mr. Chandler, officiated, assisted by Rev. D. W. McDaniel. Mr. Bill Luck and the choir from First Baptist Church here and Mrs. Edith Price, organist, furnished the music. Burial was in Cypress Creek Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mr. Chandler leaves two sons, Clarence Chandler of Calvin and Marvin Chandler of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. A. M. Camp of Winnfield; two brothers, H. L. Chandler of Winnfield, Richard Chandler of Oak Grove; one sister, Mrs. Lettie Fannin of Winnfield; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Norman Chandler, Julius Camp, Walter Chandler, Homer Chandler, Dan Carter, and Wendell Chandler.
