He was a retired farmer and a railroad employee and a native of Verda. Survivors are two sons, Cecil Chelette of Jena and Orville Chelette of Pineville; four daughters, Mrs. Bernice Vaughn and Mrs. Gladys Juneau of Dry Prong, Mrs. Mildred Vaughn of Alexandria, and Mrs. Ruby Jean Hainey of Gurdon, Ark.; a sister, Mrs. Callie Oglesby of Jena; 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Hixson's Funeral Home chapel in Alexandria. Burial was in National Cemetery, Pineville.
