All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: May 4, 1950 Winn Parish Enterprise Death Claims Tom Chester of Mars Hill Community Tom Chester, 88 years, of the Mars Hill Community, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hattie Duplissy, in Alexandria, Friday, April 28, 1950. Funeral services were conducted under direction of Hixson, with burial in the Mars Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Moses Mercer of Alexandria officiated. "Uncle Tom", as he was better known, was reared in Ward Six, Winn Parish, from the age of four. He was a member of the Mars Hill Baptist Church for a number of years and later became affiliated with the Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church. He was twice married, first to Miss N. Smith to which union one son, Johnny Chester, was born. His second marriage was to Miss Emma Freeman, to which union two children were born, Howard and Hattie Chester. Surviving besides his children are three grandsons, six great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Lillie Chester Dixon; and a number of nieces and nephews. Attending the last rites were Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Chester and son, Earl, of Sudan, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Chester and son, Durham, of Huntsville, Texas; Mrs. Hattie Duplissy, Alexandria.
