Chandler Dies at Calvin Monday Night Mrs. G. A. Chandler, 73, died Monday evening at 11:30 o'clock at her home at Calvin, La., following an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Cypress Creek Church and interment was in the Cypress Creek Cemetery under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Conducting the services were Rev. John Kitchenham of Columbia, Rev. Melvin York of Calvin, Rev. F. M. Shows and Rev. W. D. McDaniel, both of Winnfield. Mrs. Chandler was the former Ila Carroway Brantley Chandler. She was born and reared in Jackson Parish and moved to Winn Parish in 1912. She was a member of the Calvin Baptist Church. Surviving her are her husband, G. A. Chandler, of Calvin; five stepchildren by her first marriage, Floyd Brantley of Lufkin, Texas, Lillard Brantley of Nacogdoches, Texas; Mrs. Clara Ponder, Athens, Texas, Mrs. Thelma Howell of Dallas, Texas; and Mrs. Maggidell Hendrix of High Island, Texas; four stepchildren by her second marriage: Marvin Chandler of Dallas, Texas; Mrs. A. M. Camp, C. N. Chandler, and Louis Chandler, all of Calvin; her stepmother, Mrs. Donie Carroway of Jonesboro; five half brothers and sisters, George, Arthur, Gurden, and Jessie Carroway, all of Jonesboro, La., and Jewel Carroway of Dallas, Texas; and Mrs. Cora Smith of Calhoun, La.
