All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: January 9, 1936 Winn Parish Enterprise Courthouse Janitor Dies From Stroke Ibzan Cockerham Succumbs Wednesday At His Home Ibzan Cockerham, 51 year old janitor of the Winn Parish Courthouse, died at his home several miles east of Winnfield Wednesday afternoon after an illness of more than a week. Mr. Cockerham suffered a paralytic stroke while at work in the courthouse Monday of last week. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, January 9, 1936, at Old Union Church. Rev. W. D. Sherwood was in charge. The deceased was a native of Ward Two where he lived practically his entire life. He had been janitor of the courthouse here for the past three years. His wife, Annie Keyes Cockerham, preceded him in death five years ago. Surviving are ten children, Alfred Cockerham of Winnfield, Route Two; Albert Cockerham, Mrs. Zona Bartley, Annie, Gertrude, Bengie, Morgan, Jewel, Irene, and Blondell, all of Joyce; three brothers, Allen, Bengie, and H. M. Cockerham, Joyce; and two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Lee Rice, Atlanta, and Mrs. Susie Creel, Joyce.
