All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: March 4, 1943 Winn Parish Enterprise Pioneer Resident Of Ward 10 Is Claimed By Death Miss Simie Clifton, 81 year old pioneer resident of Ward 10, Winn Parish, was claimed by death February 27 at 10 p.m. at her home near Pine Ridge. Funeral services were held on February 28 at 2:30 o'clock at the Pine Ridge Cemetery with Mrs. Annie Peacock of Jonesboro officiating. Interment was made in the Pine Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home, Jonesboro. Pallbearers, all nephews of the deceased, were: Will Clifton, Ben Clifton, Herman Clifton, G. W. Jones, Ezra Hattaway, and C. H. Rushing. The deceased suffered a stroke about two years ago and had been in ill health since that time. However, her death came suddenly and unexpectedly. Miss Clifton was the daughter of the late G. D. Clifton. She had never married and had made her home with her brother, Tom Clifton, who preceded her in death, in Ward 10. They reared a niece, Mrs. F. M. Jones, from infancy after her parents had succumbed. They also reared a nephew, Sam Clifton. She had been a faithful member of the Protestant Methodist Church at Antioch for many years. Miss Clifton is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
