All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: March 16, 1944 Winn Parish Enterprise Mrs. Selina Clifton Rites Held At Pine Ridge Thursday Mrs. Selina Clifton, 84 years of age, died at the Huey Long Memorial Hospital in Pineville, Tuesday, March 14, and was buried in the family cemetery, Pine Ridge, La., Thursday at 1 p.m. o'clock. Rev. Alwin Stokes of Winnfield conducted the services. The deceased was born and reared in Winn Parish and was the wife of the late M. F. Clifton, a pioneer of this parish. She was a member of the Antioch Methodist Church for fifty-five years. Surviving are three sons, R. C. and W. L. Clifton of Pineville, and Robert J. Clifton of Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. Emma Clifton of Winnfield; one brother, H. J. Liles of Mt. Vernon, Texas; and a number of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Five of Mrs. Clifton's own grandsons and three grandsons by marriage are serving their country. They are: Sgt. Harrison Flicton, 1st Sgt. S. M. Clifton, Sgt. R. J. Clifton, Jr., all of the U. S. Army; Col. Millard F. Clifton, U. S. Marines; First Class Petty Officer Houston Clifton, Coast Guard; Sgt. Neal Carroll, Warrant Officer Julius E. Muskgrove, Sgt. Courtney Johnson. Her son, W. L. Clifton, of Pineville, with whom she made her home, fought in World War I and her father, the late John J. Liles, was a Confederate veteran.
