Last Rites For Mrs. E. Cockerham Held At Union

Funeral rites for Mrs. Ellen Cockerham, 78 year old Joyce woman who died at 7
p.m. Sunday, August 2, in a local hospital after a long illness, were held at
10 a.m. Tuesday in the Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Caskey, Dr. W.
L. Holcomb, and Rev. Harrison Cockerham officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home of
Winnfield.

Mrs. Cockerham was a lifelong resident of Winn Parish and a member of the
Baptist Church.

She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Sam Massey of Joyce, Mrs. J. D. Meador of
Winnfield, and Mrs. V. O. Kennedy of Sharon, Pa.; two sons, Henry and Harvey
Cockerham of Winnfield; one sister, Mrs. Oler Whisenant of Joyce, and one
brother, Jake Gorham of Joyce; five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
