M. Cockerham Dies Jan. 3 After Long Illness John M. Cockerham, 64, a resident on the loop road off the Natchitoches highway, died at his home here Thursday at 1:30 p.m. following a long illness. The body will lay in state at the Southern Funeral Home until time for the funeral, which is pending until arrival of out of town members of the family. Burial will be in the Cypress Creek Cemetery. The deceased was the son of the late James and Elizabeth Rudd Cockerham of the Cypress Creek Community. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Leslie Lea Long Cockerham, and one daughter, Beth, of Winnfield; two daughters and two sons by a former marriage, Mrs. Emogene Cox, Shreveport, and Mrs. R. L. Daily, Los Angeles; Melvin Cockerham of Chicago, and James Cockerham of Bigelow, Okla. He also leaves one brother, Sid Cockerham of Dallas, and two sisters, Mrs. George Dean, Winnfield, and Mrs. Ed Coonce, Rayville.
