Mrs. Cockerham, 87, Dies; Burial At Cypress Creek

Mrs. Maggie H. Cockerham, 87, of Winnfield, widow of the late Calvin
Cockerham, died at 9 a.m. Monday, July 12, 1971, in an Alexandria hospital
after a long illness.  She was a member of the Hurricane Creek Baptist Church
and a native of Winn Parish.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W. E. Higgs of Dodson and Mrs. C. W.
Perkins of Winnfield; a brother, Wise Hodge of Calvin; four sisters, Mrs.
Mattie Carpenter of Calvin, Mrs. Molly Carpenter of Goldonna, Mrs. Gertrude
Rudd of Dodson, and Mrs. Pearl Powell of Baton Rouge; 10 grandchildren, 21
great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Southern Funeral
Home in Winnfield with Rev. Rayford Higgs officiating, assisted by Rev.
Harrison Cockerham.  Burial was in Cypress Creek Cemetery.
