Verda Higgs Cockerham

The funeral of Mrs. Verda H. Cockerham, 68, of Dodson was held at 2 p.m.
Tuesday at Hurricane Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Willie James, A. T.
Valentine, and Stanley Savage officiating.

Burial was in Hurricane Creek Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral
Home of Winnfield.

She died Sunday, August 13, 1978 at her residence.

Survivors include her husband, John Wesley Cockerham of Dodson, a son, John
Steve Cockerham of Bridge City, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. D. L. Carter, Jr.,
Winnfield, and Mrs. Delores Roberson, Dodson; five brothers, Jodie Higgs,
Winnfield, Houston Higgs, Ellis Higgs, and Enos Higgs, all of Dodson, Wallace
Higgs of Shreveport; three sisters, Mrs. Clonie Box and Mrs. Henrietta Coonce,
both of Dodson, and Mrs. Veda Barnes of Jonesboro; six grandchildren and five
great grandchildren.
