All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Former Citizen Of Winn Dies In El Dorado Hospital Thomas Earl Coffer, Well Known in Winn Parish for His High Type of Citizenship Succumbs to Dreaded Disease Thomas Earl Coffer, age 37 years, died very suddenly at the hospital in El Dorado, Ark., Thursday, March 18th, 1926, supposedly form an attack of hydrophobia, which eh contracted from a dog several months ago. Mr. Coffer was an oil driller for the Standard Oil Co., at Smackover, and enjoyed the loyal friendship of both employer and employee. He was married to Miss Becky Doughty, daughter of Mr. Mage Doughty of Tullos, nineteen years ago, to which union one girl was born, named Tressie. Mr. Coffer was a member of the Baptist Church, the Macabees, and the Royal Lodge No. 334 F. & A. M. Mr. Coffer with his wife and child were at one time residents of Joyce and he is widely known in this section for his honest and fair dealings with his fellow man in business and in social life, exemplifying at all times the spirit of a true friend and loyal citizen. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Alwin Stokes, Saturday at twelve forty-five noon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Thompson here with interment in the Winnfield Cemetery following Masonic ceremony at the grave. Mr. Coffer is survived by his wife and daughter, Mrs. Tressie Hester, Smackover, Ark., six brothers, C. C. Coffer, Bogalusa; Harvy Coffer, Stephens, Ark., Pleas Coffer, Hattiesburg, Miss.; Rector, Will, and Lester Coffer, El Dorado, Ark.; three sisters, Mrs. Ray Bigelow, Bogalusa, La., Mrs. A. B. Thompson, Stephens, Ark.,; and Mrs. W. A. Odom of Winnfield.
