Cole, 85, died in a Winnfield hospital at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, February 22, after a long illness. She was a native of Texas but had been a resident of Winnfield since 1907. She was a member of a family group that operated one of the early mercantile firms in Winnfield and was also a member of the First Christian Church. Last rites were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hixson Brothers Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Reeves officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Don Turner, Robert Turner, John Richard Cole, Winfred Embree, Dr. J. T. Melancon, and Woodrow Bell. Surviving are one brother, C. B. Cole, Winnfield; four sisters, Miss Janie Cole and Mrs. C. R. Wood, of Winnfield, Mrs. A. L. Jones of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. J. M. Embree of Atlanta, Texas.
