Collins Dies Suddenly; Buried October 7 Funeral services for James S. Collins, 81, native of Winn Parish, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 1961, at the Atlanta Baptist Church with the Rev. Claude Fortenbury, Rev. Horace Teal, and Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating. Mr. Collins passed away suddenly about 2:15 p.m. Thursday, October 5, while preparing to leave his son's camp on Saline Lake after they had spent the day fishing. Burial was in Brown Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Roy Collins, Luther Collins, DeWitt Collins, Ed Collins, Jr., Cecil Collins, Richard Collins, Bill Collins, and Tommy Jean Bell. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Vashti Barton Collins of Atlanta; two daughters, Mrs. B. D. Howell, Orange, Texas, and Mrs. Ballard Smith, Sulphur, La.; two sons, Loyd M. Collins, Altheimer, Ark., G. M. Collins, Winnfield; eight grandchildren, Mrs. Billie June Murphy, Orange, Tex., Dr. James F. Howell, Houston, Tex., Bobbie Jean Mobley, Shelton, and James Lloyd Collins, Winnfield; Ballard Lee and Linda Faye Smith, Sulphur, La., and Lisa Kay Collins, Altheimer, Ark.; six great grandchildren, June Anita Stewart, Orange, Tex., Alan and Jeanine Mobley, Winnfield, and Annette, Elise, and Deann Howell, Houston, Texas; one niece, Mrs. Bessie Wyatt, Vidor, Texas; two nephews, Monroe Sinks, Oakland, Calif., and Preston Sinks, Vidor, Texas.
