Dr. Sodus Collins Succumbs In Monroe Mar. 18

Retired Monroe dentist, Dr. Sodus Alexander Collins, 72, died unexpectedly
Saturday night, March 18, at his home of an apparent heart attack.  He was the
brother of James W. Collins and of Mrs. Clara McMurray, both of Winnfield,
Route 2.

A native of Winn Parish, he was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. A. P.
Collins.  He had been a resident of Monroe since 1925.

Dr. Collins was a World War II veteran, a member of the American Legion and
agraduate of Tulane Dental School.  He was associated with numerout
fraternities and clubs, and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his widow and one son of Monroe; one brother, James W.
Collins, Winnfield; one half brother, Julius Beard, Stonewall; two sisters,
Mrs. Pearl Montgomery, Bellwood, and Mrs. Annie Mae Henton, Baton Rouge; two
half sisters, Mrs. Lee Adams, Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Clara McMurray,
Winnfield, and several nieces and nephews.

Final rites were conducted at Grace Episcopal Church, Monroe, Monday at 2 p.m.
with burian at the Memorial Cemetery.
