A. Colvin Held Sunday Beloved Member of Prominent Lincoln Parish Family Dies Mrs. J. A. Colvin, 87 years of age, died at her home here Friday, January 27 at 4 p.m. after a few days illness. Her age and failing health for the past five years contributed to her demise. Last rites were conducted at the First Baptist Church Sunday afternoon with the pastor, Dr. B. C. Land, assisted by Rev. G. A. Morgan, Methodist pastor, and Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. The many beautiful floral offerings attested to the esteem in which the deceased was held. Serving as pallbearers were six grandsons, W. C. Colvin, Justin Colvin, A. T. Drewett, Jr., Henry Colvin, Richard Colvin, and Colvin Drewett. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. W. F. Dickerson, Mrs. A. T. Drewett, and Mrs. Daisy Chelette, Winnfield; Mrs. L. M. LaFleur of Pineville, and Mrs. G. E. Bozeman of El Paso, Texas; two sons, W. C. Colvin of Winnfield and T. H. Colvin of Alexandria; one brother, James Ball of Dubach; one half-brother, John Luther Ball, Dubach; one half-sister, Mrs. Tom Colvin of Vienna, La. Thirty grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Colvin would have been 87 years had she lived until February 12th. Born in Mississippi, she moved with her family to Lincoln Parish and there she was married to J. A. Colvin. They came to reside in Winnfield in 1901, Mr. Colvin succumbing thirteen years later and Mrs. Colvin residing here since that time with her children. A member of the Baptist Church for 75 years, Mrs. Colvin never faltered from her beliefs and faiths and her devotion to her large family.
