All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Negro Car Knocker Falls Under Car Is Instantly Killed Jake Conway, car knocker on the loader of the Mansfield Hardwood Lumber Co., was instantly killed Monday morning when he acciddentally fell under an empty flat car on which he was standing while the loader was slowing down for the opening of the gate between the lumber company's tracks and the Rock Island linee. ON the car with Conway were two other negroes and it is supposed that he stumped his toe and with the jerk of the loader he was thrown under the wheels, which badly crushed the body. The body was sent to McKamie, Ark., Tuesday afternoon for burial.
