Corley Services for Jesse L. Corley were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 24, at First Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the pastor, Dr. Calvin Phelps officiating. Burial, with Masonic graveside rites, was in Winnfield City Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mr. Corley, 91, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 1986, at his residence on West Boundary Street. He was born December 14, 1894 near Pollock in Grant Parish and was employed by Tremont & Gulf Railroad in Winnfield for over 40 years, retiring as General Superintendent of Motive Power. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of Eastern Star Masonic Lodge No. 151, F. & A. M., and a Shriner. His wife, Mrs. Melo DeLoach Corley, preceded him on May 25, 1074, in death. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Maud Sanderson of Oakdale; also a number of nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Troy Lynn (Mary Katherine DeLoach) Smith of Winnfield. Pallbearers were Jimmie Howard, Harper Terrill, Dan L. Page, C. O. "Bud" Roberts, James Machen, and Kermit M. Simmons. Among relatives from out of town attending the funeral Friday of Jesse L. Corley were Mr. and Mrs. James Corley, Mrs. Marie Harris, Mrs. Frances Want and Edwin Scarborough, all from Hot Springs, Ark.; Mr. and Mrs. J. Trichell DeLoach, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Scarborough, Mrs. Dorothy Edmonds, and Dr. and Mrs. Allan Carr, all of Shreveport; Mrs. Maud Sanderson, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Duett and Mrs. Evelyn Holladay of Oakdale; Mrs. Loree Gordon of Lake Charles,; Mrs. Beryl Lynn DeLoach Coombs, Miss Kate Lee DeLoach, and F. Hampton DeLoach, all of Minden; Mrs. Rosalind Combs Lee of Ruston; Mrs. Ruby Slocum of Alexandria, and Ben Windham of Pineville.
