Zion Sat. For PFC Cormane Military reburial for Private First Class Donald W. Cormane of the Mt. Zion Community, who was killed in Belgium, January 4, 1945, was conducted at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Saturday, April 16, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Meyers of Montgomery officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. Members of the Colfax American Legion Post served as pallbearers and veterans of the Dry Prong American Legion conducted full military funeral services. Pfc. Cormane was 19 years of age at the time of his death. He was killed while fighting with the U. S. Army in Belgium several months after he arrived in the European theater. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Cormane of Montgomery; four brothers, George of Natchitoches, W. C. of Montgomery, and Paul and J. B. of the U. S. Army; and seven sisters, Mrs. Maudie Stroud, Mrs. Gertrude Casey, Miss Birtie Lee Cormane, and Miss Sarah Jane Cormane, of Montgomery; Mrs. Stella Garza of Natchitoches, Mrs. Loraine Wilson of New Orleans, and Mrs. Girtie Perry.
