Couch, 91, lifelong resident of Winn Parish, were held at the Guin Cemetery in Curry Community Sunday, April 15, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. J. C. Rousseaux of Atlanta and Rev. Rhymes of Cross Roads officiating. Interment was in Guin Cemetery. Mr. Couch, better known as "Uncle Doc" to his many friends and relatives throughout Winn Parish died in a Monroe hospital Friday, April 13, at 11 a.m. after an illness of two and one half months. A farmer by profession, "Uncle Doc" was born in Winn Parish March 5, 1860, and had lived here all his life until a short time ago when he moved to Transylvania, La., to make his home with his son, Newton Couch. He joined the Methodist Church at an early age. His wife preceded him in death 13 years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Maude Curry of Tullos, Star Route, and Mrs. Mattie White of Winnfield; three sons, Luther Couch of Transylvania; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pallbearers were R. E. McAnally, David Strozier, Jerritt Collins, Lawrence Smith, and H. B. Worthington.
