E. Crosby Crain, Former Sikes Man, Buried Wednesday

Funeral services for E. Crosby Crain, 47, native of Sikes, were held at 11
a.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church of Haynesville, following his death
of a heart attack Tuesday.

Burial was in Sikes Cemetery at 3 p.m.

Mr. Crain, a mail carrier at Haynesville, suffered the attack while delivering
mail about 15 miles out on a route.  He asked a Negro to drive him to town and
the Negro, who stated he could not drive a car, went to locate someone.  When
he returned, Crain was dead.

Survivors include his widow; his mother, Mrs. Walter Crain of Dodson, Route 1;
two sons, Crosby, Jr., of Greenwood and George of Haynesville; one daughter,
Mrs. Elton Summers of Bossier City; three brothers, M. J., Ross, and Verlon,
all of Shreveport; six sisters, Mrs. Charlie Puckett of Pineville, Mrs.
Hershel Kidd of Minden, Mrs. Bill Byrd of Lake Charles, Mrs. Roy Gaar of
Dodson, Route 1, and Mrs. E. C. Monroe and Mrs. Ralph Talbot, both of Monroe;
and two grandchildren.
