Mrs. C. R. Crain Passes Away

It is with a deep sense of sorrow that we chronicle the untimely death of Mrs.
C. R. Crain, whose death occurred at her home in Sikes, La., on Sunday night
about seven o'clock.  Mrs. Crain had only been ill a few days, having been
stricken with a stubborn attack of the dreaded malady, typhoid fever some ten
days ago.  Mrs. Crain whose maiden name was Miss Otis Moffett, the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. P. T. Moffett, of Jackson Parish, was married to Mr. C. R.
Crain about five years ago.  To this union were born two children, a boy,
Howard, and a girl, Casile, two years of age.

In early childhood Mrs. Crain became a Christian and cast her lot with the
Baptist Church and has continuously lived a true Christian life, one worthy of
emulation.

Mrs. Crain went to an untimely death, only being about twenty-two years of
age.

Funeral and interment in the Sikes Cemetery at 3:30 o'clock in charge of the
Rev. M. E. Dodd, of the First Baptist Church, Shreveport, who was in Sikes at
this writing conducting a series of revival services at the Baptist
Tabernacle.  Dr. Dodd spoke at length on the splendid Christian life and good
deeds of this good woman; he also mentioned her connection with the church,
the Sunday School, and the various other church organizations with which she
was affiliated; her influence in the community, stating that in her death the
city of Sikes and surrounding country had suffered an almost irreparable loss.

Many kindly messages of sympathy and condolence were sent the bereaved family;
also the floral offerings, which were very beautiful, were another evidence of
the esteem in which this good woman was held by those who knew her and the
life she had lived best.  To the bereaved family and relatives we offer our
heartfelt sympathy.
