All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: June 20, 1952 Winnfield News-american Mrs. Vashtie Crain, 78, of Sikes, Dies At Home June 18 Rites at Baptist Church in Sikes To Be Held Today Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today for Mrs. Vashtie Crain, 78, who died at her residence at Sikes on Wednesday, June 18, 1952 following a lengthy illness. Rites will be conducted at the Sikes Baptist Church and interment will follow in the Sikes Cemetery under direction of the Southern Funeral Home. A native of Jackson Parish, Mrs. Crain was born Feb. 4, 1874. She was a member of the Sikes Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Thomas D. Crain; five sons, E. E. Crain of Sikes, S. T. Crain of Chatham, H. D. Crain of Stratford, Calif., Jesse B. Crain of Pollock, and Johnny Crain of Bentley; five daughters, Mrs. Jessie J. Parker of Sikes, Mrs. J. A. Woods of Alexandria, Mrs. Tom Miller of Sikes, Mrs. O. C. Carroll of Bentley; five brothers, J. M. and Morgan Green of Dodson, Arthur and W. M. Green of Winnfield, and Jesse Green of Mississippi; a sister, Mrs. Lucy Taylor of Bastrop; and 32 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
