H. Crawford, nee Hallmark, wife of Sheriff J. H. Crawford, quietly passed away at her residence in this city yesterday at 6:40 p.m. She had been ill for some forty days with continued fever, and the attending physician, Dr. J. J. Peters, entertained hopes of her recovery all day yesterday. She seemed to revive considerably, and talked of various business affairs to members of the family, and said she felt like she would be well soon. But at 6:40 o'clock she took a turn for the worse, and in less than five minutes the end came. It was a shock to the entire town, and as a result all business houses failed to open their doors today out of respect for the dead lady, who was a genuine Christian, and who was loved by all who knew her. She was only 39 years of age, and leaves a husband, four daughters, three sons and a concourse of friends and relatives who sincerely mourn her untimely demise. Interment will be made at 4 o'clock this evening at the Jerusalem cemetery, near here.
