Crawford, Winn Native, Dies In Texas The Rev. Nace B. Crawford, 70, Palestine, Texas, died Friday morning, November 9, 1973, in Palestine after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Methodist Church of Palestine. A native of Winnfield, Rev. Crawford was a retired Methodist minister of the Texas Conference. He had worked in several north Louisiana cities. The Rev. Mr. Crawford served 13 years as superintendent of the Methodist facility in Palestine, retiring in 1972. Before going to Lakeview, he was superintendent of the Galveston District of the church. He also had been pastor of churches in Boling, Teague, Mineola, and Pasadena as well as serving on the Lufkin and Huntington circuits. He had been a wholesale drug company sales manager, a Boy Scout executive, and an attorney before becoming a Methodist minister. He was a member of Jacksonville's Lon Morris College board and a graduate of Stephen F. Austin College in Nacogdoches. Survivors include his widow; two sons, Nace B. Crawford, Jr., of Washington, D. C., and the Rev. Jim Crawford of Nederland, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Wallace of Las Cruces, N. M., and Mrs. Judy Giles of Houston, Tex.; his mother, Mrs. J. H. Crawford of West Monroe; one brother, Harry T. Crawford of Shreveport; four sisters, Mrs. May Becker of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Ava White of West Monroe, Mrs. Mamie Fields of Opelousas, and Mrs. Mildred Amey of Doyline; and 10 grandchildren.
