John B. Creel Killed in Action in South Pacific Had Been In Marines For Four Years, Overseas One Year Lieutenant John B. Creel, U. S. Marines, has been reported killed in action in the South Pacific, according to a telegram from the War Department to his mother, Mrs. Gerusha Creel, of Joyce. The telegram did not state the time or place, but that further information would be forwarded as soon as it is available. Lt. Creel has been in the service about four years and had served overseas for about twelve months. He graduated from the Winnfield High School and spent only a few months at Louisiana Tech before entering service. Surviving are his wife and 3 year old son, John, Jr., of Charleston, S. C., mother and six brothers, Aaron Creel and Dewey Creel, Winnfield, Cortez Creel, South Carolina, Hezzie Creel, Colorado, Julian Creel, Joyce, and Ivy Creel, in the service in England; three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Rajcan, Duquense, Pa., Myrtle Creel and Geraldine Creel of Joyce.
