J. Crippen Funeral services for J. J. Crippen were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 1998, in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Calvin Phelps and Eugene F. Love officiating. Burial followed in the Winnfield City Cemetery. Mr. Crippen, age 85, of Rayville, Louisiana, formerly of Winnfield, died Sunday, August 2, 1998 in the Richland Medical Center, Rayville, and was a member of the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association and was employed as Chief Deputy for the Winn Parish Sheriff's Office until his retirement. Surviors are one son, James "Jim" Crippen of Rayville, La.; two daughters and sons in law: Nancy and Mike Hearne of West Monroe, La., and Susan and Billy Richardson of Rayville, La.; one sister, Juanita Lasyone of Starkville, Ms; 7 grandchildren: Teresa Ezell, Jesse and James Crippen, Janis, Jay and Jamie Hearne and Jessica Blackburn; 3 great grandchildren: Jeffery and James Ezell and John Dillon Blackburn; and one great great grandchild, Warren Ezell. He was preceded in death by his wives, Sibyl Crippen and Opal Crippen, and son, John J. Crippen. Pallbearers were: Gregg Davies, T. A. Ferrell, Jess Fenton, Billy Henderson, Tommy Nicar, and Fred Richardson.
