W. Crippen residence at 3 p.m. Thursday for Mrs. Mattie Martha Crippen, 87, of Houston, Texas, mother of two local men, who died in Houston April 23 after several years illness. Rites were conducted by Dr. W. L. Holcomb, pastor of the First Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the Winnfield Presbyterian Church, and interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. A native of Texas, Mrs. Crippen was born March 12, 1865. She is survived by two sons, J. W. Crippen and Frank Crippen of Winnfield; one daughter, Mrs. Willie Goodman of Fort Worth, Texas, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pallbearers were J. J. Crippen, Willie Lasyone, Fred Cottonbrooks, George Crippen, Frank Crippen, Jr., and Earl Baggett.
