Creel Of Joyce Killed In Pacific Theatre Mrs. Frank Creel of Joyce has been notified by the war department that her son, 2nd Lt. John B. Creel, 24, was killed in action in performance of his duties and service of his country. The message which was received Tuesday morning did not state the place or date of his death. Lt. Creel was serving with the Second Marine Corps in the Pacific, according to members of his family. He had been a member of the Marines for four years, during which time he attended officers candidate school in South Carolina, and was commissioned second lieutenant. White stationed in South Carolina, Lt. Creel married and his wife and son, John B., Jr. reside in Charleston at this time. After graduating from the Winnfield High School, and leaving a record as a football star, he entered Louisiana Polytechnic Institute of Ruston, but soon left his studies to join the Marines. Surviving besides his mother, wife, and son, are seven brothers: Cortez Creel of Charleston, S. C.; Sgt. Ivy Creel with the U. S. Army in England; Pfc. Hezzie Creel with the U. S. Army in Colorado; Julian and Silas Creel of Joyce, and Dewey and Aaron Creel of Winnfield; and three sisters, Myrtle Creel and Jeraldine Creel of Joyce and Mrs. Ruby Rajcan of Duquense, Pennsylvania.
